So what happened at the meeting...
As a recap of the Parents Meeting held at the studio on Wednesday, January 30th we provide the following highlighted details:
Ticket Sale
Sunday, March 30. Basically the clear point was made that no one is to camp out for tickets. Our recitals are held at the JCC Klein Branch located at Jamison and Red Lion Rds. It is a small theater and there is not a bad seat in the house. The doors of Studio B (7269) will open at 9am and everyone will receive a number as they arrive. You will sit and enjoy coffee, tea and provided snacks as you wait. In the main studio there will be tables where you can purchase up to 15 tickets per show. Tickets cost $18 each and each family is responsible to purchase 5 (total, not each show). Also, anyone performing in the showcase on Friday must sell/purchase an additional four (4) tickets. Please note ANYONE who enters the theater must have a ticket. Tickets can be paid for by cash, check or charge. A sign will be posted with all dancers' names and years of dance training (at Motion n Dance or with Ms. Staci) PLEASE take a minute and confirm the spelling and information is correct. This is how it will appear in the recital program, tee shirt and trophy. So maybe take more than a minute.
Recital Program Booklet
Each year we provide each ticket holder a program booklet which not only includes the order of the program, but best wishes from family and friends. Each family is required to purchase a minimum of one $25 1/4 page ad for this booklet. If you wish to purchase a larger ad, more ads or to add photos or business cards there are additional costs. Deadline for these ads is April 5. Order forms and more information, including past years samples are available at the office.
Picture Day
Class and individual photos will be taken at the studio on Sunday, June 1. Each class will be assigned times for their photos. Please be ready dressed, in full makeup BEFORE that scheduled time. Dancers in multiple classes will be given an area to change. Separate areas will be provided for boys and girls. NO ONE is to come into the photographer's area except the dancers. Photos this year will be by Donner Photography. We will hold a picture pickup day AT THE STUDIO on Wednesday, June 11. If you do not like your photos you are NOT required to purchase them. More information will be provided about picture day in MAY.
Technical Rehearsal - UPDATED INFORMATION 5/12/2008
Thursday, June 12 at the JCC Klein Branch. Each class will be assigned a time to be there. Please be there early and ready. This WILL be a costumed rehearsal. Dancers need to be in costume, tights and proper shoes, with their hair pulled off their face. This is to familiarize the dancers with entering and exiting and for the technical staff to establish lighting and effects cues. Your cooperation will make this run quickly so please be understanding.
Recitals
We will be holding three separate performances.
Friday, June 13 @ 7:30 pm
- a red carpet showcase of our performance team, our instructors, special production numbers along with selected solos, duos and trios.
Saturday, June 14 @ 1:00 pm - a celebration of our babies and minis.
Saturday, June 14 @ 7:00 pm - to celebrate our Pee Wees, Juniors and Seniors
Please note the following rules about all three recitals:
No father, brother, uncle (or in other words male) is to enter the girls dressing room for any reason. Same rule for any female entering the boys' dressing room. Please limit the number of non dancers in the dressing room to 1. Additional people make it very confusing. Each dressing room will have one or more staff coordinators, contact this person if you have any problems. Best wishes can be given at home or in the lobby, not the dressing room.
No one other then staff is to be backstage. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Please stay in your seat and enjoy the whole show. Leaving after your dancer is finished is not only rude, it disappoints those remaining to dance who have no audience. This year we are planning a really great finale with ALL our dancers so you will want to stay. Our recitals are limited to two hours and we put on a great show. Don't miss a minute.
No flash or video photography is permitted in the theater. They will be confiscated if they are seen. This includes cell phones. Please tell all your guests about this rule.
No food or drinks are to be taken into the theater. There are vending machines across the hall from the theater. Please enjoy your refreshments in that room and do not bring anything into the theater.
Last class for the season - UPDATED INFORMATION 5/12/2008
At this class awards and trophies will be presented. Please do not miss this very important preparation class.
Hair and Makeup
New requirements for this was announced at the meeting. All minis and peewees are to wear a low bun covered with a nude rhinestone bun cover. These will be available for sale at the studio. Juniors and Seniors are to wear a low ponytail with a rhinestone hair band. These also will be available for sale at the studio.
All performance team lines are to have a three row rhinestone choker and rhinestone earrings. Samples and other forms for all these products are available in the office.
Shoes and Tights
A listing by
class of all your needs will posted and distributed. If you have questions please get them answered early. Do not wait until the last minute. Recital time gets crazy and stores sell out. Also order extra remembering picture day, dress rehearsal, recital and future competitions and performances.
Special Parents Opportunity
Ms. Staci is looking for several adults to participate in a Mom's or Dad's dance. Please see her soon, no special talent is required just the ability to have fun. It will be a rewarding and fun opportunity so see Ms. Staci before it's too late.
